- Achievements in 2008:
Sedgefield Young Farmers Club has had a great year this year. We had the challenging job of finding a venue for Rally Day and night and with thanks to Mr John Wade, letting use his facilities at Howe Hill, provided use with an excellent venue for rally.We had our tent at Sedgefield Show, even though the weather conditions were not on our side members had been baking cakes and selling them, we also did ‘splatt the rat’, and the ‘loli pop’ game. Our member each took their turns to help sell the cakes. This year members went into the main ring, were we got our cow costumes out from rally day and did a parade of them and David Dove gave a little commentary. Members had a fun day even though they went home a little cold and wet.We had a packed programme with thanks to Luke Turnbull, with talks from the National Dogs Trust and by the Police Dogs section, we had some enjoyable visits to Sam Turners at Northallerton and to Hartlepool water works. Members had an enjoyable time strawberry picking followed by a BBQ at Castle Eden with thanks to the Wood family.We had our End of Harvest Ball on the 3rd of October at Hallgarth Hotel and County Club, near Darlington, our tickets sold out and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable night. Half of the profit made from that night will go to charity
