- Activities in 2008: Another year finished and so much accomplished! This year started with a bang, sorry bonfire and fireworks which was enjoyed by members, family and friends and started the fundraising for the year. Other fund raising events for both the club and McMillan Nurses (this year’s nominated charity) included our Scrumptious Supper held at Spennymoor Town Hall and a Ploughing Match which attracted excellent publicity for the club. Some members also took part in a tractor run raising even more money.Competitions have been as popular as ever this year. Members took part in stock judging at both County and Area level with Shelly Whitfield being placed 3rd in the Intermediate Beef Judging. Sports also proved popular with members travelling to Pontins in Blackpool for Northern Area Weekend to take part in the Basketball and the Football. Calf club helped add to the silverware also with Mark Rutherford winning Champion Calf in the CDYFC Class at Wolsingham Show. Rally Day was also popular with members as always.Thank you to everyone who has supported the club this year and well done to all members for their efforts throughout year. All that is left for me to say is good luck to everyone for the forthcoming year.
